What is Mu-Xing Therapy?

Mu-Xing (pronounced Moo-Shing) Therapy is a unique wood based massage utilizing heated rosewood, bamboo and other hardwood massage tools. Mu-Xing Therapy Tools are specially crafted to deliver a full body, deep tissue massage effortlessly. Mu-Xing tools act as an extension of your hands reducing overall wear and tear on the thumbs, hands and wrists. The warmth of the tools helps to melt muscular tension and allow the therapist to work deeper with less effort.

What are Mu-Xing Tools made from?

Mu-Xing Tools are made from Rosewood, Bamboo and other hardwoods. Each piece has its own unique texture and color. We avoid the use of vanishes and lacquers for most of the tools to allow the natural flow of chi. Mu-Xing Tools can be used at room temp or warm to facilitate deeper relaxation. The tools can be used through clothing for compression, meridian or acupressure work as well as directly on skin with the use of oils and creams.

How do I heat Mu-Xing Tools?

Mu-Xing Tools are heated in an electric heating pad. We recommend the 14 x 27 theratherm or the Mu-Xing Heating Pad. Heating will take approximately 20 minutes. Do not use a microwave or hot towel cabinet to heat your Mu-Xing Tools. See Kit insert for detailed instructions.

How warm should the Mu-Xing Tools get?

If you are using Mu-Xing therapy in a warm treatment, the tools should be pleasantly warm creating a gentle relaxation. Mu-Xing Tools are not meant to be "hot" as in hot stone massage techniques. See Kit insert for detailed instructions on heating time and temperature.

How do you sanitize the tools?

Proper cleansing is imperative after each session to maintain proper hygiene. Thoroughly wipe each tool using alcohol-free antibacterial wipes such as Purell or use a paper towel and Pure Green 24. Do not clean your Mu-Xing Tools with water - excess water will cause the wood to warp or crack.

How will Mu-Xing Therapy help my practice?

Mu-Xing Therapy Tools and Techniques are designed to help you save your body. The tools act as an extension of your hands and help you perform deep tissue massage with less effort. The use natural wood allows the therapist to palpate effectively through the tools. Mu –Xing Tools are excellent for myofascial techniques and trigger point work allowing the therapist to use leverage and gravity instead of muscular strength. Additionally, having a unique modality to offer to your clients will attract new clients and keep current clients coming back.

How will Mu-Xing Therapy benefit my clients?

The warmth of the Mu-Xing Tools combined with the specialized techniques create an exceptionally therapeutic massage, expediting the melting away of ischemic tissues. Mu-Xing Therapy increases relaxation, decreases muscular contraction, reduces trigger point formation and helps restore proper posture.
